From the open beamed entry to the hand carved mantel over the fireplace, Swiss Woods Bed and Breakfast is an inn of detail with the feel of Europe. Plush robes, 300 plus thread count sheets, down comforters and Swiss Chocolate on your bedside table are all there to make your stay special. Enjoy a walk through the magnificent gardens blooming from the first snowdrop in March to the last aster in November. Wander the moss covered woodland trails or spend your day touring Amish country. There is something for everyone including wonderful shopping, excellent restaurants, theater, vineyards, museums and farmers markets. |

The heartbeat of Swiss Woods is the huge sandstone fireplace and windows all around. Nature is a focal point of the inn and every season is visible from this room. In winter when the snow flies, the fireplace radiates its warmth. The Biedermeier sofas are the perfect spot to curl up with a good book or a board game. Bookcases line the walls filled with an eclectic mix of reading material. Books are a real love of the innkeepers and there is tons of every genre. Breakfast is also served here. Hot coffee awaits the early riser who wants to walk in the quiet of the woods, or sit and watch the flickers play on a tree beside the patio, or listen to the mourning doves as the sun rises. Afternoon snacks include our renowned biscotti, and a selection of cranberry cookies with brown butter glaze, orange bundt cakes, lime coconut triangles or double chocolate squares. We love to bake and it shows! A wide selection of tea and coffee are available to compliment the afternoon sweets. |

A guest kitchen is an added plus for those traveling with coolers. Take a part of Lancaster home with you from the local farmers markets. The refrigerator makes it easy to store till you leave for home. The business traveler will find everything close at hand in our guest office. 2 computers with DSL access as well as a printer and workspace are available in an office with French doors leading out to a patio. Small meetings can also be accommodated. Wireless internet access is available all through the inn and on the immediate patios. |
| We are foodies, I will readily admit that. We are people who love food but are not snobby about it, who enjoy the endless variations of flavor and texture, the pure enjoyment of picking peaches at 7 am that grace our breakfast table at 8:30, or the satisfaction of baking a new creation that goes beyond just "good food". We love the "tried and true" of an heirloom snicker doodle recipe as well as the endless quest to see just how many different ways there are to prepare eggs! Our guest book is full of enthusiasm for our breakfast table and afternoon coffee sweets. Our entire inn is about heart and enthusiasm for life and its multitude of simple pleasures. Breakfast at Swiss Woods is no exception and may in fact, along with the gardens, be our crown. | Good food and good conversation often go hand in hand. We serve a full country breakfast seating between 8:30 and 9:00. An early continental style breakfast is available for the business guest. Entrees may include anything from a wonderful strata chock full of local cheeses, bacon and ham, or a veggie quiche featuring whatever Werner is growing this season! Zucchini, leeks, carrots, broccoli, all find their way into these wonderful savory pies topped with Switzerland's Emmentaler and Gruyere cheeses. Sweet mornings find our own blueberry French toast with hints of orange, stuffed raisin French toast or maybe an upside down apple pancake. We use the best ingredients as fresh as possible, many of them we grow here at the inn. |

The common area we are most proud of are the extensive gardens surrounding the inn. Perfect to relax in at the end of the day or for a morning stroll, they are chock full of every imaginable blooming plant. We often joke that if it grows in the northeast Werner (Innkeeper, Owner) has one planted! From the first bloom of the snowdrops to the last flowering mum, something blooms just about all year round. The orchard boasts some 90 trees and the garden produces everything from asparagus and rhubarb to potatoes and garlic. The woodland provides abundant wood, beautifully stacked all around the inn. Benches are tucked in out of the way places for the couple that would love that romantic interlude, and there are hammocks strung between trees, the perfect spot for an afternoon nap. For the hiking enthusiast, there are trails through the wood. Joggers will find the 4 miles of road around the lake a wonderful run. |
