Introduction
Welcome...
To someplace special, someplace different, in America's most famous small town! All travels are passages...from one stage of life to another, one land or culture to another, or -- as with your visit to Gettysburg -- from one era to another.
Located in the heart of the historic district, where the Confederate barricades were set up during the July 1863 battle, PASSAGES INN GETTYSBURG is a renovated pre-Civil War (1834) home that today reflects the innkeepers' interest in international affairs and travel. Take a passage across lands during your passage through history!
Looking for a great place for a small family or friends' reunion? Romantic getaways? Ladies' weekend away? Parent-teen outing? Special gift for an anniversary or birthday? Passages Inn Gettysburg is perfect, and we'll help you plan your occasion! On y parle français.
Each of our three large, second floor guest rooms is furnished in antiques with an exquisitely comfortable, quilt-covered queen bed, private bathroom, cable TV and A/C, wing chairs and rockers, and its own international motif. There is also a small game room where guests are welcome to play cards, Scrabble, chess (on a handmade needlepointed board with hand-carved pieces from England) and even the traditional and still widely popular Kiswahili game, "Bao".
You're invited to relax or socialize in the guest parlor, which has artifacts from around the world and a large built-in bookcase from which you may borrow reading materials during your stay. And, if time and interest permit, we hope you'll participate in our occasional Sunday afternoon "salons," at which we host engaging presentations, encourage spirited exchanges, and serve light refreshments.
Orignally from California, Passages Inn Gettysburg innkeepers Paulette Lee and Gary Froseth have been married 30 years and have lived in California, Indiana, Pittsburgh and Harrisburg, PA, Gaithersburg, MD, and now are back in Pennsylvania to operate the B&B. Paulette is an international development communications specialist who speaks French, and recently returned from 11 months living and working in Africa (Ethiopia and Rwanda). Gary is a lifelong broadcast journalist, with an avid interest in aviation and rail transportation. In addition to foreign affairs, the couple share a love of art, theater, and dance.
PASSAGES INN GETTYSBURG, a unique B&B in “the most famous small town in America”, has surefire cures for the winter blahs. Take a trip around the world in this pre-Civil War home that has an “international accent” with the following specials:
Special PackagesGettysburg Girlfriend Getaways NEW! Gettysburg Girlfriend Getaways -- "Home & Hearth" or "Body & Soul".....(more)
So often when we've "B-and-B'd," breakfast was the highlight, and we hope it will be for you here, as well. For early risers, at 7 a.m. we put out juice, fresh baked goods, tea and coffee (specially roasted for us in Costa Rica or brought by us from Africa) in the first floor guest service area, which has a refrigerator for your convenience and is stocked with complimentary juices, soft drinks and water.
Our gourmet breakfasts are served at 8:30 a.m. in the formal guest dining room, with varied and delicious menus. Entrées alternate between egg and non-egg; there's always fresh fruit or fruit drink; and on Sunday mornings there's the additional treat of a breakfast food common in another country. It could be Jordanian, or Croatian, or Balinese, or....?
Special dietary needs are accommodated with pleasure, and for those in a hurry, there is always cold cereal and milk!
