Introduction
Originally the Sarah Miller House, built in 1897, The Harvest Inn is ideally located in the historical residential district and is currently one of the homes featured in the Self-Guided Walking Tour of Honesdale, published by the Wayne County Historical Society.
The Harvest Inn is distinguished by its classic columns and handsome wrap-around porch. Relax on the porch swing, where you can close your eyes and imagine what it must have been like to live back at the turn of the century.
Inside you will find a welcoming fireplace where you can enjoy a cup of coffee or tea to take the chill off the cooler months. Upstairs you will find bright and comfortable rooms, each with a private bath, TV, telephone (local calls are always free), a/c, heat and fresh flowers. In the dining room your breakfast usually consists of coffee, tea, fresh fruit, juice, pastries, cereal, yogurt, French toast or pancakes with local maple syrup, muffins, bacon or sausage and eggs.
Accommodations/Rates
We have five bright and airy rooms, each with private bath, air conditioning, telephone and cable television. Rooms range in size, accommodating anywhere from 1 to 4 guests. Cots are available. Room rates range from $100 to $165 and are subject to change.
Surrounded by ancient maple trees (Honesdale is sometimes referred to as the Maple City) and one Gingko (the only one in Honesdale), The Harvest Inn is within walking distance of the main part of town where you will find many quaint stores, restaurants, a farmer's market and antique shops. Did you know Winter Wonderland was written on Church Street or that Honesdale is the birthplace of the first American commercial railroad? You can still relive the experience of the Stourbridge Iron Railroad or visit the museum to learn more. The Harvest Inn is also a short drive from Lake Wallenpaupack and some of the best ski areas.
