Introduction
After successfully operating a small bed and breakfast in downtown Allentown, innkeepers Beth and Al began to think about developing and embellishing the same British B & B concept in a rural setting. It took two years to discover what would become the Glasbern property. It was a rundown farm left unoccupied for 13 years. In March 1985, Beth and Al bought 16 acres and the very "tired" farm buildings that we all know intimately as Glasbern.
After installing indoor water and plumbing, the innkeepers moved into the Farm House in early summer 1985 and in December of that year welcomed their first B & B guests to Glasbern. Through the years, many changes have taken place including converting the Barn to guest rooms, renovating the Farm House, converting the tractor shed to the Carriage House, renovating the Garden Cottage, re-constructing the Stables, and much more.
Although dining was not part of the original plan for Glasbern, we were advised not long after opening to think beyond the classic B & B concept and to become a Country Inn. We accepted this challenge and are proud to say with the talent and dedication provided by staff over a few years we now have many guests who enjoy dining as well as sleeping at Glasbern.
A full country breakfast is included and is served 7:00 to 9:30 weekdays and 8:00 to 10:30 weekends. Glasbern is open for dinner from 5:30 to 8:30. Our cuisine is "Contemporary American", reservations are required, and dress is "upscale casual".

While all of our architectural and conceptual changes have been going forward we have also been intent on enhancing an already beautiful piece of farmland. The landscaping and the organic vegetable and perennial flower gardens have become a passion of dedicated workers. Glasbern now has over 100 acres, a constant care and challenge to all who work outside as well as inside where all the nooks and crannies demand our unforgiving attention.
