We are only a two hour drive from Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Our home borders Dykeman Springs and Park which is home to trout, ducks and other wildlife.

Ewell Room
The Dykeman House Bed and Breakfast is located in Shippensburg, Pennsylvania, named 27th of the "100 Best Small Towns in America" in the second edition of Norman Crampton's book. We are only a two hour drive from Baltimore and Washington, D.C. Shippensburg is home to Shippensburg University. Wilson College is located in nearby Chambersburg, while Dickinson College, and Dickinson School of Law are in nearby Carlisle, famous for its annual car shows held at the Carlisle fairgrounds.

The Civil War Gettysburg battlefield is only a short drive away and there are many historic buildings in and around the Shippensburg area. The area has dozens of antique and flea markets, auctions and the local Amish can be see on the streets nearly everyday.

  • Breakfast at the Dykeman House is served in our large dining room, next to a cozy, brick fireplace and is a full country breakfast. Freshly brewed coffee and a selection of juices and teas complement the meal. This is graciously served on place settings of china, silver, and crystal in an intimate candlelight setting. Special diets are not a problem as long as you tell us in advance. A complimentary beverage, cheese and cracker snack is provided in the late afternoon. Lizzy Room

    Ewell Room

    Named for confederate General Richard Ewell, commander of Lee's 2nd Corps, whose troops camped here in June 1863 on their march toward Harrisburg, one week before the battle of Gettysburg. This spacious room is furnished with early 1900's mahogany Bedroom furniture. It features a king size bed, TV, and private bath. It is located in the front of the house and has a view of the front yard and park lake. Prices: $99 - $129 per night

    Lizzy Room

    Named for Lizzy Sayre who became the wife of George Dykeman in 1861 and bore him ten children. This lovely room is furnished with antique oak furniture and a brass bed. It features a king size bed, TV, and private bath. It is located in the front of the house and has a view of the front yard and Park Lake. Prices: $99 - $129 per night

    Policies
    • Cash, personal checks, Visa and MasterCard are graciously accepted.
    • A deposit of one night's lodging is required to confirm your reservation.
    • Notice of cancellation must be received one week prior to arrival date, or four weeks prior to holiday and special weekend reservations to avoid being charged.
    • All charges will be refunded if the room is re-rented.
    • We are a NON SMOKING inn. Smoking is limited to the back porch only.
    • Children over 12 are welcome.
    • Check in time is 4 p.m. - 7 p.m. Check out time is by 11 a.m.
    • Minimum stay of 2 nights required on special event weekends.
    • All accommodations are subject to 6% PA state sales tax and 2% local occupancy tax.
    • No pets please.
    • Gift Certificates are available.
