As mentioned, Break Away Farm is a working horse farm operated by your hosts, Wendy and Travis Kinnamon. The husband and wife team have run a full-time business, sometimes training as many as 35 thoroughbred racehorses, since purchasing the farm in 1998. They aim to make your stay here as comfortable and accommodating as possible, while giving you all the peace and privacy you desire.

You or your clients can enjoy your morning coffee, tea and juice and make your own breakfast or snack, while watching beautiful thoroughbreds stretch their legs in paddocks right outside your windows. We're offering special rates and consideration for horsemen and trainers, so please call us today to book a night, two nights, a special weekend or several days.

We do consider pets on an individual basis, and there is a pet fee. Please inquire before assuming you may bring them.

Within the limits of the farm, you may spend time watching the many varieties of birds including hummingbirds, goldfinches and even bald eagles that nest on the 800-acre lake within walking distance of the cabin. Throughout the late summer and fall, many types of butterflies can be admired. You can feed carrots, apples, or mints ot the half dozen or so horses that call the 15-acre pasture behind the cabin home. You'll find that these animals are as curious about you as you are about them. You're also more than welcome to come watch the horses train at various gallops through the countryside. Miles and miles of trails, bridle paths, and dirt roads await you to explore all the open preserved countryside adjacent to Breakaway Farm. Feel free to bring your mountain bike or ask about borrowing one or two from the Kinnamons if you feel inclined.

Living Room Just a mile or so down the road, you can visit a number of Amish produce stands, greenhouses, hardware, dry goods, or tack stores unspoiled by modern amenities such as electricity and modern plumbing. Rent a boat or fish on the lake adjacent to the farm. Within a half an hour drive you can explore dozens of museums, including Winterthur, as well as the world-famous Longwood Gardens. Outlet shopping outside of Lancaster is also very popular with tourists. Fine dining is within a short drive or maybe just a sandwich from a the local sub shop that is three minutes away.

Break Away Farm is within one hour of Philadelphia and Baltimore and thirty minutes from Wilmington, Delaware, downtown Lancaster, and Northeast Maryland (head of the Chesapeake Bay).

Wendy and Travis look forward to hearing from you soon!
