Tom & Kathryn
Tom and Kathryn are new to Hanover, but already feel it's a great place to call home. They purchased the Inn April 26, 2000, moving here from St. Louis, Missouri. Tom was born in Nebraska, raised in Springfield, Missouri, graduated from the University of Kansas, and is a registered professional engineer (mechanical). His first job out of college was with York International in York, Pennsylvania, so he's not entirely new to the region. After thirteen years in York, he moved to St. Louis to work with Monsanto Company. After some twenty-plus years there he worked with a consulting firm before the move to Hanover. His two great passions are photography and singing, which he does with the York Symphony Chorus and Chamber Music Group.
It's been Kathryn's dream to town an inn for twenty years! She was born in Lawrence, Kansas, and as the daughter of a Presbyterian minister, moved from Kansas to Kentucky, Missouri, Long Island (it's a state, isn't it?!!), and back to Missouri and St. Louis for most of her formative years. After undergraduate and graduate school at Syracuse University, she started out in city management before assuming a marketing position with Sverdrup Corporation. She spent twenty years in marketing and advertising, and contributed numerous hours with the volunteer boards of Opera Theatre Saint Louis, Saint Louis Symphony Orchestra, Saint Louis Art Fair, and Circus Flora, to name a few. In addition to cooking, Kathryn loves to needlepoint and read.
Kathryn and Tom have two grandchildren (Victoria and Andrew) who live in St. Louis with their parents, Anne (daughter) and Steve. Allison (daughter and Tom (son) and new wife Cindy, are also in St. Louis. Tom and Kathryn live in the carriage house out back with Penny, their resident dog (usually found in the fenced part of the yard looking forlorn so as to get attention).
