History:
The house was built in 1896 by Henry B. Gish and his wife Amanda. It was a "gentleman’s farm" built in the Victorian style and in the early part of the 20th Century underwent a small addition to the rear and some mission-style changes. Edwin H. Gish, the grandson of Amanda and Henry B. Gish, lived in the house as a child and reported that it was a wedding gift to his father. Tax records show the land was in the Gish family from 1864 until 1942. Since purchasing the house in 1990, Ann and Dave Royer have worked on the exterior and interior in an effort to restore its original splendor.
The Innkeepers:
Ann & Dave Royer are long-time residents of Lancaster County and would love to give sightseeing suggestions. They will also secure your reservations at local restaurants. Ann loves antiques and gardens and can recommend some great places to visit.
Wake up to the aroma of fresh-ground coffee and homemade baked goods.
Curl up on the swing on the front porch with a good book. Ride the country roads with one of the bikes, or stroll through the quaint town.
Enjoy afternoon tea on the front porch as you smell the chocolate wafting through the air from the M&M Mars factory. And, after a long day of antiquing or sightseeing, enjoy a nightcap at bedtime before you climb under the luxury linens, on feather beds, in an individually controlled, air-conditioned bedroom.
Elizabethtown is a quaint town with antique shops, good restaurants, arts and entertainment all within walking distance or a short drive.
