Bend is located in Deschutes County, at the eastern foothills of the Cascade Mountain in Central Oregon, and spans 32 square miles. Tourism is the main source of income for the city of Bend, and because of this, the city is well suited to many different types of visitors and has a wide range of accommodations. The Bend Film Festival is held in October and salutes the independent films and the mastery of film making. LibertyBank Balloons Over Bend is a colorful display in July at The Old Mill District. Just ten miles from Bend, the Newberry National Volcanic Monument is in the Deschutes National Forest. There are two alpine lakes, campgrounds, and during the winter season, snowmobiling and cross-country skiing. Exhibits include art, culture, and science. Crossings at the Riverhouse is arguable Bend's best steakhouse. Deschutes Brewery Inc. allows visitors to view the beer brewing process, and they can enjoy the product, as well as great food at the same time.
