Make yourself at home, as guests have for over 150 years.
Built in 1852, the Ashland Mountain House was Ashland's first inn. Later a stagecoach stop, it is now restored as a sunny, spacious bed and breakfast on the National Register of Historic Places. Just 10 minutes from Ashland, Oregon, the Mountain House is set on six acres of rolling hillside at the south end of the Rogue Valley. Now that the renovation is complete, we invite you to come and relax in this comfortable, quiet retreat.

Immerse yourself in the library of several thousand volumes, ranging from travel guides to best-selling novels. Wander over to the shop where John's home-built aircraft is close to completion. Take a nap in a lawn chair under the walnut tree. Or prospect in the organic gardens for a day's fix of roses or sugar snap peas. The whole place is yours to enjoy.

The parlor is a bright open room with honey-colored beadboard paneling and a plush purple sofa. The cushy linen couch opposite is an invitation to sink in and soak up the sunlight in the late afternoon. If you're so inclined, take advantage of the public computer on the desk in the corner to check your email or reconnect with the web.
The downstairs hallway is an Arts and Crafts moment rendered with historic wallpaper and vintage lighting. The hallway leads to a small, pleasant space with a boatload of games, from cards and scrabble to elaborate strategy board games. The round walnut table here is a convivial spot to pursue them.

The views are wonderful from every location, whether you're looking uphill to the mountainside or across the valley floor to the wooded ridges that face us. Watch the sky, listen to the wild birds, and enjoy being away.
The big yellow farmhouse and the small brick building next to it hold three guestrooms. Each is distinctive but all have beautiful views and lots of natural light. Every room has a queen bed with luxurious linens and each connects to a spacious private bath. All guest rooms have AC, Cable TV, a private telephone line and a high-speed Internet connection.
For breakfast, early risers can recharge with a buffet of organic granola, yogurt, fresh fruit, and coffee/tea from 7 a.m. on. Enjoy a full breakfast in the dining room between 8:30 and 10:30 a.m., served at your convenience. You can choose between a pair of breakfast options, such as an open-faced omelet with home fries and cornmeal/blackberry pancakes with lemon butter and confectioner's sugar.
