Introduction
Enjoy the fresh air and abundant wildlife...
... at our sixty acre country retreat!
We Specialize in Relaxation Here!
Our rooms will enchant you, our breakfasts will please you, and we promise that your stay with us will be a memorable one. Located on the ridge of the historic battlegrounds of the War of 1866, we are a sixty acre, scenic country retreat surrounded by equestrian farms and a Carolinian forest. We specialize in relaxation here, but if it's busy you want -- we've got that too!
We are surrounded by over 500 undeveloped acres, yet 5 minutes from Historic Ridgeway and Crystal Beach -- within easy reach of Niagara's numerous conveniences, sights and activities. Utilize the opportunities to hike, birdwatch, nature walk, cross-country ski, snowmobile, or just plain relax here at Split Rock Farms.
Enjoy Fort Erie's world-renown race track/slots, beaches, the wine trail, our several theatres for the performing arts, the Friendship Trail, Casino Niagara, Niagara Falls, Niagara-on-the-Lake, Welland Canal, the area's many golf courses, museums, antique shows, crafts show and festivals -- so much to do, so little time!
Guests are served an imaginative brunch-style, candlelit breakfast in the dining room each morning. We do our best to accommodate any dietary restrictions.
Afternoon refreshments are available in the Florida Room or on the patio situated among the lush, fragrant gardens and goldfish pond overlooking the meadow beyond.
Our Cape Cod-style, smoke-free, 30-year old home consists of nearly 4,000 sq. ft. of living space.
With a separate guest entrance, our 3 lovely guest rooms (Trillium, with fireplace, Eleanor's Room or Violet's Room) are beautifully appointed and creatively decorated with our collection of unique Canadian antiques, one ensuite and one shared bathroom.
Each room greets you with fresh flowers, goose down pillows, hand-sewn quilts, fluffy white robes, a sitting area and the choice of a double, queen or canopied-king bed.
The floors throughout the house are wide-planked pine; additionally, each room is equipped with air conditioning/electronic air cleaning systems and a full-house water purification system.
Curl up in front of the living room fireplace to read a book from our lending library or enjoy a CD from our large collection on any of the stereo/radios provided throughout. Parking is more than ample and provisions are made for the storage of guest bicycles, as well.
H O S T S
What you see at Split Rock Farms B&B has been achieved through the efforts of its Innkeepers, Glen Finbow and Lynda Finbow. For 22 years, Glen has owned and managed a successful paving contracting company in Thorold, while Lynda has worked as a paralegal. Glen is responsible for the upkeep of the lovely grounds and ponds. Lynda's turf is inside -- mostly the decorating and general operation. Both enjoy gardening, antique collecting, car racing, traveling and animals.
They have realized their dream of owning a large piece of country property, where their golden retrievers, Montana and Dakota (Kody), can run free, where horses can be raised and where they can continue working toward their goal of providing a comfortable retreat for the pampering of their guests, family and friends.
