Spiro is located in LeFlore County in Oklahoma. In March, Spiro features a Kite Fly Day at the Spiro Mounds Archaeological Center. There are hundreds of participants in the kite fly. McAlester is host to the annual Italian Festival in May. It features food, entertainment and shopping. An overall fun time! Spiro Mounds is Oklahoma's only archaeological park. It features 140 acres of some of the most interesting archaeological remains in the U.S. You can truly get a feel of Oklahoma's history when you're there. While camping is fun for some, others desire less rugged accommodations. A Spiro bed and breakfast or inn can please even the pickiest of visitors with comfortable accommodations. Spiro Public Library is a fun place to visit. There is a children's area filled with books and it’s a great way to spend a quiet afternoon while staying at a nearby Spiro B&B. For food, Sonic Drive-in is always a good stop for everything from burgers to limeades. Mazzio's Pizza is also a good choice for food in Spiro.
