Broken Bow Lake & Mtn. Fork River
Just to the south is Broken Bow Lake and the Mountain Fork River. Broken Bow Lake is a cool, deep mountain lake surrounded by forest and the Mountain Fork offers fishing and canoeing. Enjoy Boating, Water Skiing & Jet Skiing. Bring your own or rent at the marina.
Fly Fishing & Lake Fishing
You have several options for fishing on or very near the Reserve. The lower Mountain Fork River in the tailwaters of Broken Bow Lake dam offers world class trophy trout fishing. Broken Bow Lake has been called one of America's bass fisheries by FLW Outdoors Magazine. Three Rivers Fly Shop offers fly fishing schools, classes and Instructional trips.
Hiking & Nature Walks
The grounds surrounding the Reserve on Eagle Creek are perfect for short hikes and nature walks. Nearby is the Ouachita Trail for more rugged and long distance hiking.
Horseback Trail Riding
Equestrian trail riding is available at A to Z Ranch. Enjoy a guided horseback tour with over 150 miles of trails available across the Kiamichi mountains. Guided rides can be arranged with a variety of lengths and difficulty so the whole family can enjoy.
Hunting
The Oklahoma country side is home to a number of hunting seasons throughout much of the Fall and Winter including deer, bear, boar and turkey.
Talimena National Scenic Byway
Oklahoma's only National Scenic Byway, the Talimena National Scenic Byway passes nearby and offers 54 miles of spectacular views and magnificent scenic beauty. Three other state scenic drives also criss-cross the area.
Floating, Canoeing, Kayaking
The lower Mountain Fork flows out of Broken Bow Lake dam so you have great water (cool & moving) all season. The Glover is Oklahoma's last free flowing stream and can be challenging in high water.

Golf
Cedar Creek Golf Course is often called "Oklahoma's Little Augusta". The course lies on the shore of Broken Bow Lake surrounded by forests with Cedar Creek meandering through the fairways.
Museums
Enjoy the Beavers Bend Wild Life Museum in Hochatown, & the Forest Heritage Center in Beavers Bend Park. Museum of the Red River is located in Idabel along with the Gardner Mansion & Museum.
Nearby Towns
You don't have to spend all your time outdoors to enjoy the Reserve on Eagle Creek. Several nearby communities offer unique attractions:
- Mena, Arkansas is a quaint city with lots of great 'antique' shops. The drive to Poteau, Oklahoma is very scenic and there are more 'antique' shops.
- Hochatown is just to the south and has a fine restaurant, Abendigo's, and a wine tasting shop, "Girls Gone Wine." There are Louisiana fresh shrimp for sale, an internet café and even hand cut steaks available.
- Broken Bow is a little further south and has a great grocery store (Pruett's) and a Wal-Mart. It also is home to the Choctaw Casino. Idabel also has lots of restaurants from the original Papa Pablano's to Shady Oaks Steakhouse. There are also interesting shops and the Museum of the Red River.
- Honobia is just down the road from the Reserve on Eagle Creek and has close ties to Big Foot. If you watch A&E, SciFi or Discovery channels you will see Honobia, Oklahoma featured on their reports about Sasquatch. The town also has an annual Big Foot Festival, attracting people from around the world, scheduled for early October each year.
