Elk City is located in southwest Oklahoma in Beckham County. Elk City is known for having the longest running rodeo in the state of Oklahoma. The PRCA Rodeo of Champions is held annually in early September during the Labor Day weekend. Christmas in the Park, held late November through December, is an enjoyable event for the whole family. It features decorated light tours, carriage rides and a candy cane express train ride.
