History
The Hasseman House was built in 1900 by two brothers from France, Fred and Emanuel Serquet. Their dream was to build the biggest house in Holmes County. They even invited their French friends over from France to help them build the house. The Hasseman's purchased the farm from the brothers in 1919 and farmed there until Milo and Katherine Miller purchased the house and an additional 75 acres at an auction in June of 1994. The Millers traveled as far as the New England states to find just the right antiques to decorate the house. The house contains all original stained glass, woodwork, and wooden floors.
Two of the rooms were named after the Hasseman's children. Rhea's room was named after their only daughter and the Boy's room was named after the two boys, Theron and Doyle. The Hasseman's three children are still living. Rhea Hasseman is now Rhea Regula, Ohio Congressman Ralph Regula's sister-in-law. Theron Hasseman is in Walnut Hills Nursing Home. He never married, but farmed the land until a few months before the auction. Doyle Hasseman lives in Colorado.
