Akron is a city in the U.S. state of Ohio and the county seat of Summit County, and is home to many fine B\u0026B establishments. During the summer, Akron hosts the National Hamburger Festival, a tribute to the city's role in the invention of the hamburger. Each summer Akron hosts the All American Soap Box Derby. Children from across the country race their homemade, gravity-powered race cars down the steep hill at Derby Downs in the shadow of the Goodyear Airdock. If you are visiting the All American Soap Box Derby, and desire less rustic accommodations, consider staying in an Akron bed and breakfast or an Akron inn. Akron Art Museum, located at One South High, opened its new modern glass and steel facility in 2007. John Brown, a famous abolitionist, called Akron his home and it is where he launched his fight to free slaves including the 1859 Harper's Ferry raid. Menches Brothers Restaurant, located at 300 South Main Street, is owned by Charles Menches who invented two of America's favorite foods - the hamburger in 1885 and the cornucopia ice cream cone in 1904. Aladdin's, located at West Market Street, Highland Square offers inexpensive middle-eastern fare with lots of healthy, fresh menu options. It is Popular for takeout as well.
