Introduction
Two miles from the center of the renowned artist colony of Woodstock, New York, a long driveway off a peaceful country road leads you to the grace and charm of the Woodstock Country Inn.
Set amidst acres of rolling meadows, woods and the Catskill Mountains, this island of tranquility offers swimming, hiking, cross-country trails, nearby skiing at Hunter, Windham, and Belleayre Mountains, and quality country comfort.
HISTORIC ARTIST'S HOME
Built as the home of Woodstock artist Jo Cantine, the house and magnificent setting reflect the artist's creativity and appreciation of nature. Great windows and doors were abundantly placed to capture the shimmering light and natural beauty of the Catskill Mountains. Cantine lived to be 94 and enjoyed a successful career, with shows at prestigious New York City galleries and museums, and a painting in the permanent collection of the Metropolitan Museum of Art. Several of her luminous paintings, and her hand-painted furniture are displayed in the common room and bedrooms of the bed and breakfast.
The Woodstock Country Inn was established in 1987. Renovations were made with a desire to allow for maximum privacy and comfort for guests, while maintaining the charm and ambiance of a 19th Century farmhouse.
RELAXED ELEGANCE, COMFORT and SIMPLICITY
The heated in-ground pool is set in a wildflower meadow overlooking mountain views and is open from May to October. Adirondack chairs and hammocks are strategically placed for optimum relaxation and meditation.
AWAY FROM IT ALL, CLOSE TO EVERYTHING
The Inn is ideally located only 2 miles from the shops, galleries and music of Woodstock, a short hike to Cooper Lake, and less than a mile to the Bear Café and Bearsville Theater. Hiking and cross-country ski trails, antique shops, and fabulous restaurants are all only minutes away. Nearby activities also include road and trail biking, apple picking, tubing, canoeing, horseback riding, boat rides on the Hudson River, tennis and golf. Four ski centers (including Hunter Mountain) are close by.
"When friends ask me where to stay in Woodstock, I always recommend the Woodstock Country Inn. This charming b&b is perfect for a country retreat, a romantic getaway...and the ideal location as a base to explore the many activities the Hudson Valley has to offer."
