The Van Voast House B&B is located in historic Schenectady NY less than one mile from Union Collegeand the General Electric Company. This B&B is the closest one to the Albany International Airport.

The tapestry brick exterior, large porches and craftman's details is typical of the 1920's architecture. The warm and inviting guest rooms are large and comfortable with private baths and A/C. The decor is light and cheery with antique furnishings and modern amenities. The Garden Room has a queen size bed and ensuite bath. The Gate Room has a queen size and a single bed, offering guests the option of one or two beds. This room can also accommodate three guests. Guests are encouraged to enjoy the large comfortable common room with its wood burning fireplace or relax on the two person porch swing.

A Full Gourmet Breakfast is served in the large formal dining room or on the garden porch overlooking the perennial gardens. The menu includes fruit in season, hot entrees with breakfast meats and breads/pastries. Bottomless coffee, tea and assorted juices are served in carafes. Ask about the house specialty - "Van Voast Toast". Special meal requests can be accommodated.

While in the area guests can bike along the Mohawk River on a paved trail, stroll the rose garden in Central Park, take in a Broadway show at the restored 1920's Proctor's theater. Union College with its charming architecture and landscaped grounds has many cultural and sporting activities open to the public. Historic Saratoga Springs is a short drive in the foothills of the great Adirondack Mountains. Schenectady is only a little over an hour from Cooperstown and its many museums including the Baseball Hall of Fame. The State Capital of Albany is only 30 minutes away with its many attractions and museums.

Rates & Policies
  • Single occupancy rate is between $85 and $95
  • Double occupancy rate is between $100 and $115
  • The rate for each additional person is $15
  • Minimum stay required (College weekends)
  • Smoking is not allowed
  • We cannot accommodate guest pets
  • Limitations on children staying (Over 12)
  • 50% deposit is required with 5 days of booking
  • College special events are payable in full
  • Check in time is Flexible and Check out time is 12 noon
  • Cancellations: Two weeks notice prior to arrival for refund of deposit less $25 service fee. Less than two weeks notice, deposit refunded if room is rebooked. Credit for future stay is also an option.
