Introduction
Frederic & Cindy Vercauteren are enthusiastically continuing a 50 year family tradition by operating the oldest guest house in Woodstock, New York.
Twin Gables is over 100 years old; however, it began life as a guest house and tea room in 1926 when Mr. and Mrs. Alfred Daiber purchased the building naming it as well. Being an artist, Mrs. Daiber had been attracted to the Art Colony in Woodstock as many have and still are. Some of her paintings now decorate the large, double bedroom downstairs.
The architecture and furnishings create an ambiance that revives the relaxed, easy living of that time. Over 50 years of quality service and hospitality in our immaculate, basic amenities home has gained us a respected reputation for comfortable, affordable accommodations. Rate range is $67 - $124.
Woodstock
Our village has a worldwide reputation for its art, music, literature and a festival or two. Many well-known people in these fields reside in and make appearances in the area. Most weekends, especially in summer, there are special events going on in one of more of these fields.
There are three state parks within an easy drive for all kinds of outdoor fun. To fish some of the best trout streams in the state is only a seven mile drive from Woodstock.
The Catskill Mountains have a great hiking trail system with all degrees of difficulty.
Both downhill and cross-country skiing are a half-hour drive.
The renowned beauty of the mountains is always a major attraction. Our fall leaf colors are spectacular.
Early American history is found throughout the area from Rip Van Winkle to Hudson Valley mansions, such as Hyde Park.
Cruise the beautiful Hudson River.
Flea markets, yard sales, auctions and antique shops are bargain hunting at it best!
