Our Check in is 3pm and our Check out is 12noon in the off season.
During the nine week summer season Check out is 9am.
Breakfast is exquisitely prepared each day to create signature dishes for our guests.
Our chef creates hearty meals with the finest of ingredients as a satisfying way to start off your day.

During the total renovation in 1997, The Spencer was updated to modern standards while keeping the simplicity of its original style. A literary theme was adopted. Guests may experience an overnight fantasy inspired by the hand-painted murals and décor. Creative expressions, exemplified by furnishings, decorative lamp shades or other accessories highlight the chosen theme of each room.

Policies:

The Spencer Hotel is on the grounds of The Chautauqua Institution, a gated resort community. Automobiles are only allowed on the grounds for guest and baggage delivery during the nine week summer season. Please make arrangements for gate passes prior to your arrival; call the Institution's Front Gate at 716-357-6200. This will save you time on arrival.

The Chautauqua Institution is a unique and wondrous environment; however, there are limited stores and services on the grounds and nearby. Some articles, for example, medical supplies, may be difficult to secure once you are here. The nearest major medical facility is in Westfield, which is approximately one half-hour away, and the nearest pharmacy is in Mayville (5 miles).

During the rest of the year breakfast times & availability may vary.

The Spencer is a non-smoking establishment and is handicap accessible.

We accept checks, money orders, and credit cards.

We love pets, but we cannot accommodate them at the hotel. Call and we can recommend a place to board your pet.

The State of New York requires us to collect 11.00% sales tax. Because we are a small hotel, we do not have to collect the additional hotel taxes that apply to stays in larger hotels.

Cancellation Policy:
For summer rentals, a refund will be given if cancelled by March 1. After March 1, a refund upon rebooking the room. Off-season, upon re-rental of the room or guests may choose another reservation date.All refunds subject to a $50 - $75 service charge. Groups, please contact The Spencer Staff to discuss our cancellation policy for parties occupying 10 or more rooms.
