Introduction
Welcome to Captain Schoonmaker's Bed & Breakfast!
We are situated on 9 landscaped and wooded acres, with two waterfalls and the remains of a stone grist mill. Guests are welcome to fish in our trout stream take a dip under the waterfall or just relax in the hammock.
The post and beam barn, which was built in 1810, has been renovated to house our guests. Enjoy seeing Whitetail deer, wild turkeys, Blue Heron, Black Bears, Muskrats, hawks and a large variety of birds from your balcony.
Enjoy sitting by the wood burning stove in our solarium, which is available for use as a common room by our guests, with Cable TV & VCR. Sip lemonade on the deck or your balcony in spring and summer or hot cider by the fire in winter and fall. A small guest refrigerator and hot water maker with tea, coffee and hot chocolate is also available outside your room.
Canopy or four poster beds are part of our Early American decor. Five air-conditioned rooms are furnished with country antiques. All rooms have queen size beds, private bathrooms, and balconies over-looking the trout stream and woodlands. There are no in-room televisions or phones to disturb you.
Our Candlelit Country Gourmet breakfast is served on antique china (a different service each day) in our dining room by the beautifully restored original wood burning fireplace. Your Breakfast may include delicacies such as: homemade cinnamon buns, Stuffed French toast, vegetable frittata or our own farm fresh eggs as well as home baked scones, breads or muffins, fruit juice, sausage or bacon, fresh ground coffee and teas.
