Barocco Room
Varigotti Room
Barocco Room
With its rich palette of gold and red inspired by the room's elegant Frette bed linens and fine gold-leafed Baroque bed and console, this is a room like no other in the Hudson Valley. The gold-leaf is carried over into its lamps and custom-made bedside tables, while a long, cushioned windowseat provides a place to settle in with a book or backgammon. Bookshelves and velvet curtains help create a particularly private environment. The en suite bathroom features a commodious shower with built-in tiled bench.
Luigi Filippo Room
Well-lit by three silk-shaded windows, the room's pumpkin walls and walnut antiques imbue the former master bedroom with a genuine glow. The bed and night tables are Louis-Philippe, and the large chest of drawers is late 17th century. An alcove contains a writing table and chair with handwoven silk upholstery. Fortuny lampshades, an antique Kilim, modern paintings, and a comfortable settee nearly complete the picture. The room and its en suite bathroom overlook the perennial garden and lawn beyond.
Varigotti Room
This, our only twin-bedded room, is named for a colorful Ligurian fishing village depicted in the painting that hangs above the room's handsome chest of drawers. The chest is Louis XIV; the beds, with high head- and footboards, are late 19th. Tones of burgundy and rich brown in the settee and Turkish rug are set off against leaf-green walls, which echo the lush gardens overlooked by one of the windows. The room's spacious bathroom, with a full bath / shower and ample cabinets, is immediately next door, and entirely private.
Chiavari Room
Named for its splendid wrought-iron bed forged by a master artisan in the Italian Riviera town of Chiavari, this room is fresh and airy-feeling, due to floods of morning light and a decorative pastel palate of delicate pineapple, soft aqua, and touches of coral. The bed itself is a striking Montecatini green, the traditional color for children's beds in and around Genoa, and handpainted wild flowers fill its medallions. A pretty bergere chair and ottoman as well as a Louis XV chest add to this room's eclectic style. The en suite bathroom hasİ a glassed-in shower and a window looking into distant trees.
