Introduction
Tucked high in the Catskill Mountains, just two hours from New York City, there exists a romantic 135-year-old Victorian Country Estate on a 250 acre private lake, surrounded by thousands of acres of hardwood forest and wildlife preserve. The inn provides a variety of summer and winter recreational facilities including the use of our nearby full service health and fitness club. Breakfast is served on the screened in Veranda allowing you to enjoy the sounds and feel of the lush green forest. When glassed in during winter, you can experience the beauty of a surrounding snowscape. The estate consists of three distinct dwellings...
The Inn, The Carriage House and The Cottage.
Inn at Lake Joseph is listed on the
National Register of Historic Places.
The Inn's guest rooms, with working fireplaces and whirlpool baths, are tastefully decorated with lacy linens, silk and dried flowers, Victorian wallpapers, Persian rugs, canopy, four poster, brass and sleigh beds, as well as regional antiques and fine reproductions.
Our turn of the century Adirondack lodge carriage house guestrooms, where pets are welcome, have their own private entrances. Most have lofted cathedral wood beamed ceilings, private sun decks, full kitchens, working fireplaces and personal whirlpool baths.
The Cottage contains three rustic yet comfortable accommodations and was designed and built almost entirely of Hemlock, cut from our surrounding forest. The Fletch rough cut siding; and the stone shale fireplaces rising up through the exposed beams and rafters, all came from trees that once grew outside its windows. To some, this is profound. The cottage is our most secluded dwelling.
