Discover Saugerties ~ A Friendly Historic Village in the Heart of the Hudson Valley
Saugerties is found in the Catskills region of New York State, a popular vacation destination with a wealth of attractions. Saugerties has earned the name Festival Town due to the list of annual events, including such gatherings as the Jazz and Art Festival, the Hudson Valley Garlic Festival and the Mum Flower Festival. History plays an important part in Saugerties as well, offering visitors the chance to experience a re-created, 19th-century village complete with a restored carousel and an antique lighthouse with shipping related exhibits and a small museum. Another local attraction not to be missed is Opus 40, an open-air art exhibit that displays an installation by Harvey Fite, a sculptor who took nearly forty years to complete this work.
