Introduction
Garnet Hill Lodge is nestled high in the Adirondacks overlooking pristine Thirteenth Lake and the mountains of the Siamese Ponds Wilderness Area. The Lodge was built in 1936 by the original mine developer in the area, Frank Hooper. Garnet Hill is also a full service restaurant specializing in a variety of entrees and homemade breads and desserts. A new addition to the Log House is the Miner's Pub - serving draft beers, wine and spirits.
Garnet Hill Lodge is a four season inn/resort located in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Garnet Hill is a summer vacation destination and a complete cross-country skiing center in winter.
The Garnet Hill area is a natural paradise for those seeking a break from the hectic rush of everyday life. In spring, summer or fall, 70 miles of marked and mapped trails provide gentle walks for the nature enthusiast, while the rugged mountain scenery presents the experienced hiker with more vigorous routes and climbs. Snowy, Peaked, Crane, Blue and Chimney Mountains are all nearby. Fine swimming is offered in the clear waters of Thirteenth Lake, while its beautiful beach will reward those who prefer to just laze in the sun. Boating, canoeing and fishing can also be enjoyed, with rental canoes, kayaks, and rowboats available. Garnet Hill also maintains two tennis courts near the ski/bike shop. Garnet Hill's extensive cross-country ski trail network is transformed into a mountain bike trail system in the summer and fall. In addition to the ski trails we have developed an impressive interconnecting network of single-track bike trails - the rides are endless!
Whitewater rafting on the nearby Upper Hudson River is another great spring, summer, and fall attraction.
Within an easy and scenic drive are many area attractions, from museums, and nature centers to natural wonders, historic sites and boat cruises - the area around Garnet Hill has it all. To appreciate the exciting mixture of fall colors, a gondola ride to the summit of Gore Mountain is a must do autumn activity.
As winter pushes fall aside, The Garnet Hill Cross-Country Ski Center becomes the perfect spot to enjoy every kind of winter sport. With over 55 kilometers of trails - groomed and tracked daily. it is ideal for the novice or expert alike. Seasonal snowfall totals of over 125 inches are common, providing some of the best snow conditions in the East. Rugged mountain scenery and seemingly endless trails beckon both the cross-country skier and alpine skier. Gore Mt. is major mountain skiing and snowboarding with impressive High Peaks scenery, great snowmaking, and trails for everyone. Trails are usually snow covered from Thanksgiving into April. We offer guided trips, including a challenging 10 kilometer tour from Gore Mountain. Our PSIA instructors are available daily for lessons. Equipment rentals and sales are available from our Ski Shop. Ice skating, tobogganing and snowshoeing also await you, while Gore and Whiteface Mountains and Lake Placid are within easy reach. Whatever the season, our Adirondack Style Lodge is a haven in itself, with a fine restaurant serving homemade fare and treats from our own in-house bakery. After skiing, reward yourself with a pint in the Miner's Pub at the Log House!
The Log House Restaurant continues a 50 year tradition of providing guests with a memorable Adirondack dining experience.
All meals at are garnished with our spectacular Log House views. Enjoy a snow sparkling early morning view for breakfast and a moon and star lit dinner scene. Family friendly Game room with ping pong, pool table, TV, Games and 2 computers with free internet access - while children wait for dinner to be served or after dessert.
