About the Inn...
Curiously, I purchased the house in 1994 and discovered that it had been a rooming house from about 1930 into the 1960s. It was perfectly arranged for a present day B&B. While exploring an old map I discovered that it was called "The Forest House Lodge," hence the name, which has no connection to my family name "LaForest," just pure coincidence. It is situated next door to a former stagecoach stop (still standing) from the late 1800s when stages brought tourists up into the wilderness. It was a long and arduous journey for these gentlemen and ladies and their entourages but they persevered in their desire to see this newly described territory. The settlement "Forest House" is described on official United States Geological Survey maps to this day.
