Situated in the rolling hills of Southwestern New York State, we're conveniently located an average of 60 miles from Buffalo, 100 miles from Cleveland, 150 miles from Pittsburgh & 450 miles from New York City. A visit to Chautauqua County in any season is a memorable experience and a stay in any of these fine Inns will fondly linger long after your vacation has ended. You'll be refreshed ... you'll be fulfilled ... and you will definitely want to come back season after season!
Each summer our lakes draw regional vacationers looking to kick back and enjoy days of boating, sailing, rowing, swimming, birding & fishing. And don't forget golfing! The November 2002 issue of Golf Digest Magazine named nearby Jamestown, NY as "The Best Little Golf Town in America." Jamestown walked away with the top prize, number one of 314 areas surveyed. Chautauqua County is home to a wealth of antique shops, vineyards, wineries, farm markets, galleries & historic sites. For the more adventurous there are biking & hiking trails, horseback riding and even hot air balloon rides!
Winter in the rolling hills of Chautauqua County is a sight to behold! Annual snowfalls average 200 inches each year, creating breathtaking winter portraits of frozen beauty and tranquility. Perfect for spending a few days on the ski slopes, riding the hundreds of miles of well-groomed snowmobile trails, taking an old-fashioned horse-drawn sleigh ride on the grounds of the historic Chautauqua Institution or trying your skill in a brand new state-of-the-art ice skating arena. The highlight of the season -- each February when Chautauqua Lake hosts a 3-day Winter Festival that features an Ice Castle Extravaganza (the southernmost Ice Castle in the country!), sleigh rides, ice carvings, snow sculptures & fireworks.
Visit one of the many unique area museums or browse the dozens of antique, gift, or art galleries in one of the County's charming villages. Year-round theater entertainment is featured at The 1891 Fredonia Opera House, the Rockefeller Arts Center, the Reg Lenna Civic Center and Lucille Ball Little Theatre. Performances range from international touring artists to our exceptional local talent, from live stage and foreign films to comedy and drama.
From a quick, romantic get-away to full-service family accommodations, the Chautauqua region offers year-round enjoyment while providing a respite from everyday life. Which is why we say "The Inns of Chautauqua County are always in season".
