Introduction
Antique-appointed rooms with breathtaking views and private baths create an atmosphere of relaxation & renewal at the Blue Heron Inn. Located on Main Street, which is situated on Findley Lake's scenic north shore, the Inn is nestled among the busy downtown shops and restaurants. The tranquil lake and its environs inspired the nature theme that runs throughout the guest accommodations & common areas. It is not unusual to spot great blue herons, Canada geese and bald eagles on and around the lake. Each room at the Inn is decorated to fit the feel of your surroundings. With names like Rod and Creel, Lake View, Forest Grove and Garden, you might suspect comfortable, cottage furnishings tastefully done, which is precisely what we provide.
The community of Findley Lake is a combination of local, multi-generational families who have always lived in the area & seasonal property owners from Buffalo, Cleveland & Pittsburgh who spend weekends & holidays at their vacation homes. Positioned amidst miles of Chautauqua County farmland, fields & forested areas, Findley Lake offers something for everyone! Althought many visitors consider the region to be a summer-only destination nothing could be further from the truth! Each season boasts its own particular charm and the businesses of Findley Lake remain open to serve the public throughout the year. All winter long nearby Peek 'n Peak Resort (5 minutes away!) is bustling with skiers, snowboarders & snowmobilers. And Chautauqua Lake's Ice Castle is a sight to behold each February! Spring is when the farmers tap the maple trees to begin the magic of turning the sap into sweet maple syrup & candy. In the summer everyone's out & about; the lake's busy with fishermen, boaters & naturists. Pro-rated golf is available at Peek 'n Peak Resort; the seasons of Chautauqua Institution and Lily Dale Assembly begin each June and run until Labor Day. The bounty of the local harvest is the highlight of the Autumn season; we are the lucky recipients of exceptional produce, flowers & herbs! To the delight of fall foliage fans the landscape comes alive in jewel tones for several weeks each year. And the members of the Lake Erie Wine Trail take advantage of ideal conditions to harvest their prize grapes into exceptional wines & delectable jams & jellies.

Shortly after the Ahlquist's purchased the property they decided to renovate the old barn out back into brand new retail space. Tobi located her office on the 2nd floor and opened the Nostalgia @ the Blue Heron Inn in early 1997. Like a goldfish that grows to the size of its container, the Nostalgia @ the Blue Heron Inn has evolved into a unique collection of handmade American jewelry, pottery and leather accessories, as well as hand-crafted wooden toys, games & puzzles for kids of all ages. Nature and New Age items range from weathervanes, wind chimes, nature music and art flags to greeting cards, incense, crystals, totem stones and fountains. Not to be overlooked are the extensive candy counters — dedicated to nostalgic, old-time candy treats, imported chocolates & a wide array of Jelly Belly candies.
