Introduction

Enjoy the Virginia City of the 1860's and enhance your visit by staying in period accommodations at Virginia City's finest Country Inn.

Edith Palmer's Country Inn was established in a Victorian home that was built in 1863. Originally, the home and a rock building to the rear were used as a cider factory. Edith Palmer, a renowned cook and innkeeper, started the Inn after she bought the property in 1947.

In the year 2000, current owners Pat and Leisa Findley began reconstructing and rejuvenating the Inn. Now the Inn along with the rock room, which is now appropriately the Cider Factory Restaurant, are joined by the two adjacent Victorian Houses to complete the property.

Edith Palmer's Country Inn is a perfect location for a family reunion, retreat, or any other special occasion.

The Cider Factory Restaurant
continues the tradition of fine dining in an intimate setting. Originally a cider factory, the sign for the factory can still be read on the huge metal door of the restaurant. A very unique fireplace made with stones collected from the surrounding hills keeps the chill away in cooler weather. Enjoy breakfast or lunch in our casual dining area, where morning sun streams through the two double-doors facing east. When weather permits, you can choose to dine on the stone patio in the courtyard, enjoying the fresh air and the great views of Sun Mountain and Six-Mile Canyon.

"The views of the canyon and the sunrises were terrific!
Our only regret is that we have to leave."

The Gardens
An avid gardener, Edith Palmer established a tranquil setting for her visitors. Paths meander throughout the gardens. Rock terraces lead visitors up the hillsides to fantastic views of the surrounding area and overlooking the canyon eastward to the "100 Mile View."
