Introduction
Bienvenidos! And welcome! Your stay in Corrales, a village on the Northern edge of Albuquerque, New Mexico, and an hour south of Santa Fe, offers an opportunity to step back to the days of ancient pueblos, Coronado's expedition in the 1540s, and the Spanish and Mexico eras from 1704 to 1846. The Albuquerque/Corrales/Santa Fe region is central to a number of New Mexico's historic sites. Many of these sites are day trips from the Nora Dixon Place Bed and Breakfast.
Nearby Old Town Albuquerque offers museums, galleries, sightseeing, Indian art and wonderful restaurants. Also nearby are the Albuquerque Zoo, BioPark, and Central Avenue--Historic Route 66.
Courtyard Falcon View Suite
Corrales offers fine restaurants, galleries, artisans, a foundry, 1850's Casa San Ysidro House Museum, and the Old San Ysidro Church (ca 1875), and many merchants within a mile of the Nora Dixon Place Bed & Breakfast. There is a popular recreation center nearby with animal arena, swimming pool, soccer field, and a fishing pond for kids. The City of Rio Rancho borders Corrales to the west and is about three miles from the Nora Dixon Place.
The Nora Dixon Place, built in 1960, echos New Mexico's unique Territorial era architecture. The New Mexico Territorial style house is adobe brick with sawn pine trim painted white and pedimented, divided-light windows. Adapted for use of available materials, the style brought eastern traditions to the frontier in the 1870's.
Courtyard Entry
Set on an acre and a half in the bosque (in Spanish, woods by the river), cottonwoods, Russian olives, fruit trees, native plants, livestock and vegetable farms provide rural peacefulness just 35 minutes from the Albuquerque airport. Visit Santa Fe, New Mexico by a short 50 minute drive north on New Mexico Interstate 25.
Breakfast is served in the dining room, the courtyard, or in your room, as you prefer. A full breakfast is served each morning. Fresh fruit, baguettes, sausages, special cheeses, sweet breads, granola, jams, French toast, fritatas, and yogurt are but a few of the offerings. Plus, there is always fresh ground coffee, brewed teas, and milk.
