Albuquerque is the county seat of Bernalillo County and is situated in the central part of the state. Every September, Albuquerque hosts the annual New Mexico State Fair, with carnival rides, food and agricultural competitions. In October, the city hosts the Albuquerque International Balloon Fiesta, where more than 700 hot air balloons lift off at the same time. Interesting local sights include the Sandia Peak Tramway which is the world's longest aerial passenger tramway. There is also the Albuquerque Biological Park that has a zoo, an aquarium, a botanical garden and a beach. For yummy fondue, fine wine and a truly unique dining experience, visit The Melting Pot. Locally grown ingredients are highlighted in the tasty dishes at the Artichoke Cafe. The city offers an almost limitless selection of inns and Albuquerque bed and breakfasts. Notable, local Albuquerque B&B establishments are a great way to give your trip a local flair.
