Start each day at Adobe Nido with a healthy breakfast. Every morning at approximately 8:30 am
we serve a family style breakfast in the main dining room. This meal will include coffee, tea, juices,
a hot entree of the day, breakfast meat, fresh fruits, and sweet breads or pastry.
If you have food allergies, a special diet, or just plain don't want something included in the
preparation of your meal, we will do our best to accommodate your needs. Just ask.
Broadband Wireless Internet - We offer broadband (cable) wireless internet access for our guests. If your laptop has the correct PCI card to accept a wireless signal you are online almost anywhere on the grounds or in your room. There is a signal booster in the guest house that provides a very strong signal for your use.
Ethernet and Land Lines - If you don't have a laptop with wireless capabilities, no worry. In the office there is an ethernet hook-up and in the dining area there is a land-line hook-up. Everyone can go online at Adobe Nido or leave your computer at home and use one of ours. We have two computers online at all times and there is always one ready for your needs.
Groceries - Full Service Grocery, (John Brooks Supermart) and Natural/Organic Foods Store, (La Montanita CoOp) in Neighbohood. The Supermart is just around the corner - an easy walk. They have a bakery, deli and liquor department too. La Montanita Coop is about 1 mile from Adobe Nido, and is the perfect place for natural, organic and specialty foods.
Outdoor Patio - You can relax on out back patio. Listen to the waterfall in the pond, play darts, enjoy the weather, soak up the sun and read a book. Table and chairs reside on the patio and you can bring home a take-out lunch or dinner and have a place to spread out and enjoy.
Jetted Tubs - All of our rooms at Adobe Nido have large jetted tubs for two with showers. Relax after a long day of hiking or shopping, Soothe your muscles and relax by candle light.
Outdoor Finnish Sauna - We are proud of our sauna and the guests love it. Deep relaxation soothes your aches and detoxifies your body. Aromatherapy oils may be added to the water. You control the humidity - lots or none - by pouring water over the hot rocks.
Neighborhood Spa - Betty's Bath and Day Spa is just 1/2 mile from us. It is a Body Spa, not the hair and nails type. Relax and rejuvinate at Betty's.
Nido is Spanish for a "nest or abode". An adobe is a sun-dried mud brick, which is what our home is made of, hence the name - Adobe Nido. Our original nido (built in 1985) and our new nidos, are all created in the old style of the southwest - adobe construction with kiva fireplaces, exposed adobe bricks, exposed beams, banco seats, and flagstone walkways. Our main house is the hub of activity containing main lobby, dining hall, kitchen as well as our quarters.
The 2-story guest house next door is just a short walk from the dining area, (really short...five or six paces) past the aviary. It houses two beautiful guest rooms, and the family suite. Out back, you may relax under a covered outdoor patio.
Our grounds include raised bed vegetable and herb gardens, flagstone paths, southwest xeriscape, an aviary, outdoor banco sitting areas and patios, a sounding pond and a fish pond with waterfall, and an outdoor Finnish dry heat sauna.
We celebrated our 8th year in the bed and breakfast business this March, (2008), and are happy to report that we are still loving it. Rol came from a backgound in the semi-conductor industry, and Sarah had been in printing and graphic arts for over 25 years. We are much happier doing what we do now. We have found that the next best thing to traveling ourselves is having travelers stay with us.
