York Street House Bed and Breakfast

Lambertville, New Jersey

Elegant 1909 Georgian Colonial Revival on three quarters of an acre located in the historic town of Lambertville.

Lambertville, New Jersey Bed & Breakfast: York Street House is a gracious thirteen-room Manor House located in the historic town of Lambertville. Built in 1909 by early industrialist George Massey, it was a twenty-fifth wedding anniversary gift for his beloved wife. Massey was one of the early industrialists who settled his family in this river village just after the turn of the century. In 1911, the home was featured as House & Garden magazine's Home of the Year. The heart of the inn features a winding three-story staircase that leads to six guest rooms, some with queen- or king-size canopy beds. All rooms have private baths.

Area Information

Don’t forget your walking shoes because, rain or shine, there’s always something to do. Bring your bicycle or rent locally (www.newhopecyclery.com). Two blocks away, hike or bike the Delaware-Raritan Canal path on its way from Trenton to Frenchtown. Washington Crossing State Park and Bowman's Tower Wildflower Preserve (www.bhwp.org) provide simple walking trails; Ralph Stover State Park has rock climbing areas for the more skilled outdoors person. Take an old fashioned train ride through Bucks County on the New Hope and Ivyland Railroad.

In clear weather, go shopping! (Though if you're a die hard shopper, a little rain shouldn't dampen your fun.) Visit the Golden Nugget Flea market or Rice's Market or stroll through the quiet village that we call home. Many art galleries including the Haas Art Gallery and Lambertville Gallery of Fine Art are within walking distance. Outlet shopping is 10 minutes away in Flemington, NJ (www.premiumoutlets.com/libertyvillage/) and Lahaska, PA (www.peddlersvillage.com and www.pennspurchase.com), or a thirty minute drive to Franklin Mills.

If you enjoy auctions, check out David Rago (www.ragoarts.com). Adventurous types can schedule balloon rides (www.njballooning.com) (www.njballoon.com), fly fishing (www.mainstreamoutfitters.com), horseback riding and river tubing (www.rivercountry.net) or (www.delawarerivertubing.com) with local providers. If a game of miniature golf in a country club setting is the way you'd like to spend an afternoon, Pine Creek Miniature Golf is just minutes away. If a round of 18-holes sounds good to you, Heron Glen Golf Course is a short drive from us.

Choose a gourmet picnic basket for an outing along the Delaware or in the park. (Baskets are provisioned by a local chef and require at least 24 hours advance notice.) Sample River Horse microbrews (www.riverhorse.com) here in Lambertville or take a vineyard tour at Unionville Vineyard (www.unionvillevineyards.com) or Sand Castle Winery (www.sandcastlewinery.com). When you need to take a break, stop at the Lambertville Trading Company for something hot or cold to drink, a snack or just to check out their array of gift ideas.

Tour The New Jersey State Museum in Trenton, Howell Living History Farm in nearby Hopewell, NJ, or the Michener Museum of Art (www.michenerartmuseum.org), Moravian Tile Works, Fonthill and Mercer Museums (www.mercermuseum.com) are all nearby in Doylestown, PA. When the sun goes down, there’s still plenty to do. Lambertville hosts the Riverside Symphonia (www.riversidesymphonia) for several concerts.

Walk to one of Lambertville’s many fine restaurants. We’ll be glad to recommend our favorites from French to Italian to Thai to just fantastic. Or our innkeepers can make arrangements for you to be picked up by Bucks County Carriages or a horse-drawn tour followed by drop off to your Lambertville dining destination. After dessert you’ll find jazz, blues and piano bar sing-along, or live theater to keep you busy. There's even a lounge for non-smokers to imbibe their favorite cocktails.

Bucks County Playhouse in New Hope offers live theater. For further information about our area, contact the Lambertville Chamber of Commerce, New Hope Chamber of Commerce or Bucks County Visitor and Conference and Visitors Bureau.
