"Breakfast (served in bed or in the garden) is decadent, especially the "Dutch-babies" baked German-style pancakes - or the cinnamon waffles with maple syrup ice cream and sweet berries from the strawberry patch (guests are welcome to go picking, too)." ~ Travel and Leisure
Fresh, seasonal, local and abundant describe our delectable offerings. Each day, our head chef prepares an extravagant three-course country breakfast. Sleep in and enjoy breakfast served until the civilized hour of 10 am. Breakfast is served in our dining room at individual tables, on our porch or patio in the summer or a full breakfast can be brought to your room or cottage.
Service begins with fresh squeezed orange juice accompanied by a steaming hot beverage. Guests can choose from Costa Rican organic shade-grown coffee, our gourmet hot chocolate topped with a homemade marshmallow or one of our fine English teas. Following beverage service is a fresh baked pastry or bread, then fresh seasonal fruit or our homemade granola and finally your choice of entrée (such as "Dutch Baby" soufflé pancake with brandied apples or Brie and herb omelet with roasted tomato). Entrees are accompanied by homemade apple-cranberry turkey sausage, maple glazed thick slab bacon, or apricot glazed pork sausage. Many herbs, greens and berries used in our breakfast preparation are harvested from the Woolverton's own Kitchen Garden.
Afternoon refreshments are available every afternoon from around 3 to 6 pm. Some favorites are our famous Belgian Chocolate Chip Cookies, Lemon-Blackberry Tarts, Chocolate/Cranberry-Oatmeal Brownies, spiced nuts, and lemon biscotti. Fresh seasonal fruit is always available from Solebury Orchards in Bucks County. Summer brings pitchers of mint infused iced tea or lemonade. In winter, our gourmet hot chocolate with a homemade marshmallow or hot mulled cider is available.
