This carpenter gothic style house was designed by the famous architect, Stephen Decatur Button. Originally, The Gingerbread House was a summer retreat for wealthy families who, together with their servants and nannies, would travel from Philadelphia and Virginia to summer in Cape May. Since 1979, The Gingerbread House has been among the finest bed and breakfast inns.
