Introduction

You will be drawn to the Rhythm of the Sea, our 1915 Craftsman-style Inn, by Genuine Hospitality, Good Food and Gemütlichkeit. With the ocean as our front yard we offer a wealth of seaside activities. If you are looking for a romantic B&B stay whether for a special occasion, the Cape May Jazz Festival, the Food and Wine Festival or any of the Tours and Events offered in Victorian Cape May, such as birding, MAC tours, then all this and more welcome you at our ocean front Boutique Bed and Breakfast.

Our intimate accommodation is located on the beach, in sunny Cape May, New Jersey where the only thing we overlook is the Atlantic Ocean. This Historic seaside resort, at the South Jersey Shore, Cape May is known for its broad, white sand beaches, architecturally beautiful Victorian hotels and intimate lodging. We are just a short stroll to the picturesque Victorian town and Washington Street Walking Mall with its interesting array of shops and innovative, fun, fine and family dining.

Rhythm of the Sea, where we offer the perfect blend of convenience, comfort and romance surrounded by the beach and the Historic Village of Cape May. From the moment you step into the spacious grand salon off the sunny front porch you will notice warmth to the welcoming interior. You will always be greeted with a cheerful "Hello! Welcome!" from Robyn or Julie, the assistant Innkeeper. Architecturally inspiring and in keeping with the Arts and Crafts Movement aesthetic the simplicity and uncluttered, spacious interior of this Swiss Chalet-style bungalow is refreshing.

We boast luxurious rooms perfect for those looking for a relaxed accommodation on the beach yet close to the Historic town of Cape May a short stroll away. It is also a popular choice for those seeking a honeymoon getaway or intimate wedding venue. The interior rooms have been decorated with mission oak furnishings from L. & J.G. Stickley, mica lamps and art glass lanterns and objects from nature complement the decor. The ocean breezes waft in through the windows that provide the rooms with ample light, air and views of the Atlantic Ocean.

A Warm Welcome Awaits You

1915 Oak Minn Billiard Table Rhythm of the Sea is the best of both worlds being directly across from the beach, on the quiet side of town, yet only a few short blocks strolling distance to the Historic District with its interesting array of shops and fine restaurants and eateries. So leave your car parked in our ample parking and stroll to town or borrow one of our cruisers to bicycle around town. We have storage for your own bike; just remember to bring your own lock for them so our other guests don't borrow your bikes by mistake. We also provide sand chairs and beach towels and there is a summer shower off the back porch.

In our spacious grand salon a stately 1915 Oak Minn Billiard Table graces the open space. It fits beautifully with its surroundings of mission oak furniture. This was the key ingredient to grant Wolfgang his wish to have a pool table. Robyn laid down the law, "only if it goes with the furniture". A guest came to Wolf's rescue and said she knew of one for sale that would be perfect. They were both right! Our guests have commented that they love the camaraderie of a friendly game and that the table is a great icebreaker. Spectators may gather to observe your game, but don't be shy. For a little fun and a chance to be sociable, show off your limited pool skills to an appreciative audience who know even less than you do about the game. Even most knowledgeable players are generally friendly, mutually supportive and willing to share playing tips. Enjoy!

We supply a beverage fridge, which we stock with spring water and sodas. You are more than welcome to use it to chill your wine, as many of the areas fine restaurants are B.Y.O.B. We have ice at your request. Robyn is happy to make recommendations for restaurants based on the atmosphere and style of cuisine you are in the mood for and advance reservations are strongly suggested during the weekends and each night of high season. Perhaps you might enjoy an intimate dinner exclusively for the two of you right here at the Inn, away from the restaurant crowds. With a little advance notice Wolfgang is happy to provide dinner during your stay. Spacious Grand Salon

Relax By The Cozy Fire We may have caught up with the '90's just before they left us...the inn is wireless internet enabled and our rooms have flat screen televisions and CD clock radios. Each guest room has a ceiling fan and opening windows with screens to capture the ocean breeze and window air conditioners in the summer for personalized control. Essential amenities, by EO Products, and a hair dryer are in each bathroom for your convenience and we offer daily housekeeping service.

We also provide plush robes for your comfort & an iron and board is available for your use. However, with the technological age everyone seems to have a cell phone so we have not offered telephones in the rooms in an effort to offer the getaway you so deserve. There is a guest phone located in the grand salon for your unlimited use. Local calls are free. Long distance calls can be operator assisted or with a calling card so you can tell your family and friends what a great time you are having!

Food, glorious food! It's what everyone raves about when they stay at Rhythm of the Sea and it's served up daily at breakfast prepared by German-born Innkeeper/Chef, Wolfgang - a European trained chef, avid sailor, skier, cyclist and rower who understands both the palate and the appetite. He's a baker at heart and it shows with his hot-from-the-oven pastries and homemade breads and treats at tea time. At breakfast you will sit around conversation-inducing round tables set for four. Breakfast always begins with fresh juice. Orange, cranberry, apple. Different every day. A fruit dish is served most days. Perhaps a banana split, or a granola parfait with fresh berries. Always something innovative. We make our own granola and yoghurt.

We alternate the cooked breakfast; sweet one day then savory the next. You might expect "Eggs Oscar", a Benedict-style preparation with crabmeat and white asparagus. Or perhaps "French Toast". Wolfgang bakes his own brioche with a cinnamon swirl and covers it with baked custard and fresh berries. The peppered bacon is to die for. Our Breakfast Burrito is popular and fresh herbs and tomatoes used as garnish are harvested from our own kitchen garden each morning. You will be reminded how small the world is when you discover how much in common you have with your fellow guests during breakfast conversation.

Food, Glorious Food

Breakfast Burrito French Toast with Peppered Bacon

A beverage service is offered throughout the day. You are invited to savor Wolfgang's sumptuous treats by the cheering fire in cooler months or on the breezy porch in summer with old friends and new during afternoon refreshment hour from 3:30. Plates of Chocolate Macaroons or White Chocolate Chip Cookies with Macadamia Nuts. Perhaps 'Nussecken' (nut corners, in German) triangles of frangipane and raspberry on a shortbread crust with the corners dipped in chocolate. Fresh Fruit Tarts or Peach Tar Ten are joined by pitchers of infused iced tea and lemonade in hot weather or mulled cider and gourmet hot chocolate, fresh brewed coffee and fine tea in the winter.

Chef/Innkeeper, Wolfgang, brings you modern food with a casual charm. Our dinner menu evolves around the fresh produce New Jersey is known for (it's not called the Garden State for nothing!). Select meats and seasonal seafood are amply served up on our ever-changing menu. Spend a night away from the maddening crowd and have a private dining experience right here at the Inn with just a little advance notice.

Wolfgang is equally at home on the ski slopes, his sailboat, or in the kitchen. He likes to do the fancy stuff, whether carving a turn on the slopes or carving a succulent turkey for the guests at Thanksgiving or Christmas dinner. His adventurous nature brings light sauces and just enough seasoning to his dishes. So feed your senses and explore great tastes as Chef Wolfgang brings you sumptuous dinners with a casual charm, modern food and a sunny attitude.
