The Pillars is a grand old (1870) Victorian mansion. Inside, 7 guest rooms are decorated with an individual decor and theme. The Williamsburg Room is the favorite of many, with its grand fireplace and queen canopy bed. The Master Suite also has a queen canopy bed, and a separate dressing room. Both have huge bathrooms with old fashioned soaking tubs and showers.
Downstairs, guests enjoy the Library with magazines and a computer for their use. In the Living Room, sit quietly by the fireplace or curl up with a good book on the Victorian sofa in the bay window. Use the rockers or the swing on the front porch. Stroll the gardens and enjoy the roses or peonies. When breakfast is served it will be in the dining room or on the porch, where you have the chance to meet other guests and relax over a second cup of coffee.
Plainfield is one of the oldest inland cities in New Jersey, complete with the Drake House Museum (used by George Washington during the Revolutionary War) and fine houses that span the centuries from pre-Revolutionary to early 20th century granduer. Fine dining is everywhere in this part of New Jersey - or just hop the train and head into Manhattan. The Pillars is just 7 blocks from the train station. Some of the finest shopping anywhere can be found at the Short Hills (upscale) mall, or the Jersey Gardens (outlet) mall. It's all here. For you. For fun. For relaxation. For rejuvenation.
Weekday Business Special The Pillars is dedicated to the Business Traveler, serving our full breakfast as early as you need to have it, with WiFi and cable computer connections, in-room coffee and tea service, sherry, cookies, snacks and soda.
