Introduction
The Castle at Skylands Manor is a grand fifty-four room granite Tudor Revival mansion situated on one hundred acres of formal and naturalized gardens. The mansion can accommodate 300 guests and 230 for dinner and dancing in the ballroom and is exclusively yours for your special event. Enjoy the picturesque stone patio and lavish lawns and gardens for your ceremony, cocktail reception or party.
Imagine your ceremony in your own private chapel by the lake or along a tree-lined orchard. Your cocktail party will begin in the Castle proper within rooms that are adorned with woodwork and marble, crafted with fine old world character.
The Skylands Castle was designed by noted American Architect John Russell Pope who was educated at Ecole des Beaux Aris in Paris. His other works include The National Archives and the National Gallery of Art. The Skylands Castle possesses a remarkable collection of antique stain glass medallions set in leaded windows from sixteenth century German, Swiss and Bavarian historical sites. Many typical features of the Tudor Revival style were incorporated into the design including the extensive use of stone, large groups of rectangular windows, pane glass windows, clusters of chimneys, paneled walls, and half timbering.
The Castle at Skylands Manor has become New Jersey's premier destination wedding site. Nestled among 100 acres of manicured grounds that are the New Jersey Botanical Gardens, Skylands offers romance and glamour for weddings that are reminiscent of those found in fairy tales.
The manor house was specifically designed to contain some English and European rooms that had already been purchased or optioned by Mrs. Helen Lewis Salomon, Clarence Lewis's mother. Included in these rooms were authentic stained glass medallions and windows depicting medieval scenes. The interior also includes rich wood paneling, elaborately carved staircases, carved stone doorways, molded plaster ceilings ranging in height from 8 to 25 feet, and the traditional Great Hall found in all English Manor houses.
The Ballroom Reflects Warmth with an Old-World Style of Elegance that is Prevalent Throughout the Mansion. A favorite of Skylands brides is the private bridal suite that they enjoy for the day. Photographers usually begin there and then spend the remainder of the day taking photos of the bride and her guests at the numerous "photo opportunity" sites throughout the castle and its grounds.
The gourmet cuisine and professional service at Skylands is hospitably offered by Frungillo Caterers. The Frungillo family has been catering to brides for three generations. Skylands entire staff is at your disposal for the day. The butcher, the baker and the candlestick maker will all be on hand to make sure that your day runs as per plan. Oh yes, and of course, your private bridal assistant will be there for you as well.
This once in a lifetime moment should be spent where you have always dreamed of having it...
at a castle just for you, your fiancé and your guests!
