Hancock is located in Hillsborough County in southern New Hampshire. This historic village, settled in 1764 and incorporated in 1779, is named for John Hancock, a signer of the Declaration of Independence. Almost every building is registered on the National Register of Historic Places, including the Meeting House, which houses a Paul Revere bell that still rings each hour. After soaking up the history, stop by scenic Norway Pond, where swimming and boating are available during the summer, or ice skating and ice fishing in the winter. For a casual and inexpensive meal, enjoy Fiddlehead's Cafe. For a memorable fine dining experience try the Hancock Inn, recipient of the Wine Spectator Award, serving authentic New England cuisine amid colonial style furnishings and antiques. Several Hancock bed and breakfasts (B&Bs) and inns in the area are located in historic buildings to enhance the experience.
