Shopping
The famous Antique Trail includes some 17 shops in 14 miles along Route 101 and Route 101A. Close by the Amherst Antique Show & Sale is held on the Common each September. Nearby Hollis Flea Market operates each Sunday, April-November (7 - 4 p.m.). The Salzburg Square of European Shops is only 10 minutes away. The Mall of New Hampshire in Manchester and the Pheasant Lane Mall in Nashua are also close by. Amherst Farmers Market on the Common, June - Oct. (3 to 6 p.m.) Enjoy, New Hampshire has no sales tax. Get incredible bargains with no sales tax at the Tanger Outlets in Tilton, NH about an hour away in the lakes region.
Golf Championship-rated Souhegan Woods and Amherst Country Club golf courses are within two miles. Overlook Country Club in Hollis is a fantastic public course just a short drive over to Hollis. Crotched Mountian, in Francestown is home to a beautiful and challenging Donald Ross course and Stonebridge Country Club in Goffstown is also a very highly rated public course, both of which are about a 30 minute drive.
Cycling
Both off-road and road bikers will find plenty ground to cover in the area.
Skiing
New Hampshire is home to many ski resorts and in less than an hour you can be at the mountain. Mt. Sunnapee is about an hour away. Crotched Mountain in Francestown is about 30 minutes. Loon Mountain and Waterville Valley can be reached in about 1.5 hours.
Other Outdoor Activities
Nearby Baboosic Lake offers swimming, boating, and fishing. Take a walk or a hike. There are several vast trail systems within Amherst itself such as Joe English Reservation and Pond Parish. Within one hour is Mt Monadnock which is the world's most climbed mountain.
