We offer a New England-style Bed and Breakfast and comforts you will enjoy such as made-to-order breakfasts with hot country waffles smothered with local maple syrup, hot fresh-baked blueberry muffins, and fresh-brewed coffee...relaxing afternoon tea in our Carriage-House or in the gardens...well-appointed rooms decorated in the classic New England tradition.

Think of Dowd's Country Inn as your own private estate in which you can host weddings, family reunions, or perhaps a business conference. We are minutes away from Dartmouth College and close to the Vermont border. So if you are seeking accommodations for two, a family reunion for 100 or a wedding for 200, we invite you to visit us. It is the best gathering place in the Upper Connecticut River Valley for local and traveling clientele.

The main building of the Inn was built in 1780 as a private home. It boasts spectacular original trims and doors, along with wide plank floors. Attached to the Inn is a fantastic Carriage House with an outstanding original basket-weave brick floor. True to Yankee ingenuity, the barn is attached to the Carriage House, which we renovated in 1989 into a banquet room on the first level, and guest rooms on the second level. If you wander through the Inn you will find exposed beams, wide-plank floors and many windows paned with original glass.

Through French country doors, you can enjoy the view of our six acre property, starting with our granite stone patio, several gardens and a water fountain. Roam our grounds, try to identify the flowers in our casual gardens, count the fish in our new fishpond, or get up early to see the ducks in the duck pond. Further away are historic stone walls and an old brick smoke house.

All rooms are individually decorated with unique décor and homemade quilts, stenciling on the walls and large-wide-board-floors. Four guestrooms are hosted on the first floor, and all first floor rooms are handicap accessible. Our other sixteen rooms are on the second floor in two separate wings, with two additional rooms on the third floor.
