History of The Convent House
In 1932, a new Catholic school was built after a fire destroyed the original building. Attached to the school, a beautiful convent housed four Benedictine Sisters of Atchison, Kansas until a shortage of sisters caused the school to close in 1970. For many years the convent was either occupied by renters or left vacant. In 1993, a group of energetic volunteers who recognized the potential of the building organized an ambitious fundraising effort to bring the convent back to life. The careful and loving renovation project has resulted in an extraordinary place of rest and retreat where guests are pampered with Old World hospitality. Proceeds from the Convent House benefit St. Anthony's parish.
