Introduction
Maggie Valley Bed & Breakfast Association

The quiet little mountain town of Maggie Valley sits in a protected cove, ringed in by high mountains all around. Legend has it that the fellow who first settled the Valley climbed to the highest peak around (that would be Waterrock Knob) where he had a long view in every direction. He carefully surveyed his options and chose this verdant green valley as his home. Today, if you climb the trail to the top of the Knob, you'll see beautiful vistas all along the climb. But if you do it in early spring, when the trees are just started to leaf out, and the earth is emerging from her winter slumber, you'll find a perfectly beautiful emerald valley ringed in by high mountains all around... And you'll understand the legend.

But there is more to do in and around Maggie Valley than just bask in the beauty of it! You can daytrip to the Blue Ridge Parkway, the Great Smoky Mountains National Park, the Biltmore Estate in Asheville, take a ride on the Great Smoky Mountain Railroad, or ride the whitewater on the French Broad River, the Nantahala, the Little Pigeon River or for the truly adventurous, the Nolichucky and the Ocoee. The Cherokee Qualla reservation is just over the ridge, where you can also try your luck at Harrah's Casino. You can find waterfalls, go fly fishing, hike up a mountain, tube down a river, and see the elk graze.

Closer to home, right here in Maggie Valley, you can shop for antiques or visit a local potter, play a round of golf, visit the Wheels Through Time museum and the Soco Zoo. Sample some real North Carolina barbeque and rainbow trout, enjoy some bluegrass music and go clogging at The Stompin' Ground. Maggie Valley is the home of Raymond Fairchild at the Opry House: you won't want to miss his banjo! Carolina Nights Dinner Theater offers a musical revue, and bluegrass and country favorites can be seen at Eaglenest, too. Want more local talent? Try jazz nights at Saratoga's or a local band at Diamond K Dance Ranch.

It's all here, in Maggie Valley!
