In 1932, when a local furniture factory owner and his wife built their beautiful Tudor-style mansion, now known as the Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast, he had no idea that one day the Yadkin Valley would become internationally famous for wine lovers, as well as a place to step back in time. With its black walnut walls, painted ceilings and a manicured formal English garden, now more than 74 years later, the Inn has become an oasis for visitors to the Andy Griffith home place in Mayberry, the Blue Ridge Mountains, and the Yadkin Valley of famous wines. Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast is within walking distance to downtown and set on West Pine Street, once known as millionaires' row for its wealthy furniture families and their posh homes. This stately fifteen-room bed and breakfast stands tall with mature landscaping including a formal English garden. The hundreds of wild flowers, herb garden, and serene acre make for a charming setting that is walking distance to restaurants and shopping. As part of Junior and Robin's commitment to the comfort and well-being of their guests, they have one of the few bed and breakfasts with a complete concierge service. Sobotta Manor Bed and Breakfast is ideal for small and intimate weddings and receptions performed outdoors in our formal English garden or in our elegant home. We can accommodate up to 30 people, and we will also host bridal luncheons, showers, teas, and rehearsal dinners. |

Each of the four bedrooms is unique and offers down pillows and comforters and designer mattresses and box springs with the emphasis on comfort. Like everything else at the inn, the feeling of solitude, quiet and romance are prevalent. Warm feelings abound from the parlor where selections of local and national newspapers are always laid out, and the adjacent dining room is where you will find homemade treats abundant in the afternoon. Breakfast at Sobotta Manor is a lavish affair as well, though still casual in its own way. Every day starts off with a leisurely but gourmet three-course breakfast served in their European inspired dining room overlooking the formal gardens. Different dining venues such as the cozy breakfast nook or the open-air porches provide for the option for privacy or for conversation with fellow guests. Also included is a delightful and relaxing social hour beginning at 5:00 pm. This features a complimentary glass of North Carolina wine along with delicious hor d'oeuvres! Special dietary needs are happily accommodated with advance notice. |
