Rutherfordton is located in the foothills of the Blue Ridge Mountains in western North Carolina. A great way to learn about the town is to stay at a Rutherfordton inn or B&B. Your hosts would be happy to tell you that on the first Saturday of May, Rutherfordton hosts the Mayfest Street Festival. Mayfest offers parades, the arts, live entertainment, and activities for children. Also on the first Saturday in October, visitors can join in the festivities of the Hilltop Fall Festival. The Hilltop Fall Festival has much of the fun and activities of Mayfest, but includes a 5K run as well. Don't feel like running? During the same weekend, visitors can also participate in the Tour de Pumpkin which hosts 100k and 50k cycling.
