History
The Princess Anne Hotel was built by the father of Johnny Mercer, writer
of the classic melody “Moon River”, for Miss Anne O’Connell, a charismatic worker at a nearby tuberculosis clinic. The three-story shingle style hotel was completed in January 1924. Over the years, the hotel has been utilized as a
hospital, retirement home, training facility, and an apartment building.
Today the owner and innkeeper, Howard Stafford, an award winning preservationist, has lovingly restored this building. The hotel still retains its original ambiance and charm, with modern amenities available to create a memorable stay.
