Introduction
Welcome to the Outdoors Inn. Relax and enjoy real, island living in the casual atmosphere of our eclectic 1890's home. You will love the tongue
and groove juniper walls and ceiling and wooden floors. Located in the historic section of downtown Manteo, this 2-bedroom Inn offers you private baths, queen-size beds, central heat and air conditioning, refrigerator in room, hair dryers and radio alarm clock. We offer fresh coffee and a full home-made breakfast every morning. We are within walking distance of the many shops and sites of downtown Manteo and Roanoke Island plus we're only a 5 minute drive to the beaches.
Ask about our kayak tours and scuba diving available through The Outdoors
Inn.
Both guestrooms are on the first level of the home with the owner's quarters on the second floor. Enjoy your breakfast on the outdoor patio or inside, swimming in the pool, soaking in the hot tub or just hanging out on the porch or hammock. We have bikes available for your use while
touring the island.
Your Hosts
Your Innkeepers, Matt and Pam Landrum enjoy sharing their home with
guests who prefer a more personal touch and the camaraderie of the Bed & Breakfast experience. Your hosts are avid water sports enthusiasts. Matt & Pam are both boat
Captains as well as Scuba Dive Instructors. In addition to running the B & B, Pam & Matt teach scuba diving, kayaking and offer kayak tours. Pam is also the author of a kayak guide; A Guide to Sea Kayaking in NC. If you are interested in kayaking, you can take a kayak tour or lesson or purchase the book.
Pam and Matt know the Outer Banks inside and out. Pam used to be a Naturalist with the Cape Hatteras National Seashore and Matt grew up on Hatteras Island where his family operated several restaurants. He has run his own charter fishing boat for years and now builds them. They have 2 labs, 1 watchdog and 1 cat, which all live outside.
Activities
There are many other activities you can enjoy while staying at The Outdoors Inn. You will want to take a walking tour of the Manteo Waterfront. Stroll along the waterfront boardwalk, visit the quaint shops, antiques stores, bookstore, restaurants, coffee shop or take in a movie at the movie theater where tickets are only $4 and popcorn is still only 50 cents. Explore the island along the bike path that runs the length of Roanoke Island.
Take time to explore the other sites on Roanoke Island; the North Carolina Aquarium, Fort Raleigh National Historic Site, Elizabethan Gardens, Elizabeth II Historic Sailing Ship, or take in the outdoor play 'The Lost Colony' at the Waterside Theater in season. You can visit the beach, go scuba diving or fishing, visit the 4 lighthouses located along the Outer Banks. See the Wright Brothers Memorial, Cape Hatteras National Seashore, Alligator River or Pea Island National Wildlife Refuges, or Ocracoke Island.
