Bess Ray Howell Room 		Bess Haywood Ray was the 6th of 12 children born to Clyde and Ella Ray. She eventually married Captain Howell of the confederate army who road with Stonewall Jackson in the Civil War. After the death of Captain Howell, Bess moved back into the family home to live out her days in Waynesville.
