Intimate and Romantic - The 1900 Inn on Montford invites you to be our guest and discover bed and breakfast comfort and hospitality with a warmth and graciousness that is reminiscent of Biltmore's Gilded Age. The Inn was designed in 1900 by Richard Sharp Smith, Supervising Architect for Biltmore House. Today it is elegantly furnished with English and American antiques dating from 1730 to 1910. The luxury of the past can be recaptured in our pet-friendly Griffin Cottage with its walled gardens, secluded entrances and suites with magnificent bathrooms. |
| All of our exquisite guestrooms have private en suite baths, King size beds, air conditioning, refrigerators, TV/DVD players and fireplaces. All baths have showers. Seven bathrooms have whirlpool baths and one a claw foot tub. | Zelda’s Retreat, our secluded 1000 sq ft. 5-room suite features a sitting room with fireplace and 40” LCD HDTV, private balcony, king size bed, marble bath with whirlpool, fireplace and TV, and a multi-jet shower and steam bath. For the ultimate in luxury and seclusion, Griffin Cottage (link) offers two suites and one guest room. |
| We serve a delicious three-course breakfast at 9 a.m. preceded by the arrival of coffee or tea to your room at 8 in the main inn. Guests in Griffin Cottage have breakfast delivered to their room. Our breakfast consists of a fruit course, savory egg course and dessert course. For example, you might have a yogurt, strawberry, banana parfait topped with kiwi fruit as your fruit course, shirred eggs – American style, and for dessert – homemade caramel rolls. With advance notice, we are happy to accommodate all dietary restrictions. | |

You can relax in the late afternoon or early evening with a complimentary beverage in the period wicker furniture on this marvelous front porch. The porch is also the perfect place to enjoy a cup of coffee or tea before breakfast or to sit and read in the comfortable chairs and rockers. Enjoy live music on the porch (or foyer) every Saturday night and alternating Thursday nights. |
| Admire the collection of 18th Century English tea caddies, boxes and antique maps, relax in the leather wing back chairs, or choose a book to peruse. The library is the coziest room in the Inn and is there for your enjoyment. |
