Built in 1903, the Mimosa Inn has been a landmark and social gathering place in this area for most of this century. Most long time residents have enjoyed the Inn either as overnight guests, visitors at a social event or wedding or in its dining room. For almost TWO centuries, the public houses of this estate have received travelers and the spirit of those early days has not departed.
The 10,000 square foot mansion is located on almost 4 acres and enjoys a spectacular presence when viewed from Highway 108. Entrance is from Mimosa Lane, through flanking pillars, once the entrance to the Grand Estate. Driving down the 300' driveway past the large patio, you come to the port cochre' and its accompanying 50' rear veranda guarding the Inn entrance.
First Floor
The first floor consists of a large foyer flanked by a fireplaced living room on the left with conversation areas and a piano, and on the right by the formal dining room that can be closed off from the foyer by two sets of French doors. At the far end of the parlor there is a seating area with views of Tryon Peak and the Blue Ridge Mountains.
The dining room accommodates 60 people for a formal dinner and more for casual dining and dancing. The foyer and dining room both offer access to the 50' plus front veranda with eight columns recalling the elegance of the past while overlooking the spacious grounds.
The perfect location for your Wedding, Reception, Party, Meeting or Special Event. Call for a no obligation appointment.
Second Floor
On the second floor there is a pine-paneled sitting room, with fireplace, where guests may gather for reading, watching television and conversation. A small kitchen provides a place for guests to prepare drinks and snacks (and store that "Doggie Bag" from our area restaurants).
There are ten guestrooms down the central hall, each with private bath and large walk-in closet. The rooms all have air conditioning (temperature can be controlled by the guests). Also available is a 2 bedroom Guest House, with full kichen facilities and private entrance.
All the rooms have been decorated with antique and reproductions furniture, much of which has been built by local craftsmen.
Each room has a unique style. Rates start at $115 per night.
